Mow’s Coffee

November 25, 2025

On a recent trip to Sheffield, mid-November , Thursday the week before last,  following an excellent lunch at South Street Kitchen but very poor quality cappuccino, it was a pleasure to experience an excellent espresso at Mow’s.

New cups, or at least I do not remember from my last visit.

Wide choice of guest coffee. Several roasteries I’m not familiar with.

Stunning ceramic pour over from Copenhagen I’ve never seen before. The design looks Japanese. Together with matching carafe expensive, over £100.

An eclectic selection of books and journals on display.

Chocolate I’ve not seen before, Land, and different from my last visit. Available as bars and for drinking chocolate. Checking out Land, bean-to-bar craft chocolate, paying growers two to three times the FairTrade scam.

Mow’s located adjacent to Tamper Sellers Wheel in Arundel Street.

It was then make it to Steam Yard before they closed at four.

Note: I’m at a loss why this visit to Mow’s written up twice.

And chocolate from Land.

Sheffield mild mid-November 2025

November 13, 2025

Seasonal weather, warmer than average, maybe the new norm.

Northern Trains not too crowded. Topped up power banks, though did not need to use later.

Walked up to South Street Kitchen. Lunch excellent. Coffee was not good.

Excellent espresso at Mow’s. Wide choice of guest coffee. Several roasteries I’m not familiar with. Stunning ceramic pour over from Copenhagen I’ve never seen before. The design looks Japanese. Together with matching carafe expensive, over £100. Also good selection of books and journals on display.

Made Steam Yard before it closed at four.

Retraced my steps to Leah’s Yard. Overwhelmed by kerosene fumes. Picked up Solo, a coffee journal, from the bookshop. Sourdough loaf from the deli. Chocolate from Bullion Chocolate Bar. Busy. People on laptops. Maybe only place to go when coffee shops are closed.

Looked in Cambridge Street Collective. Korean kitchen, kimchi pancake? No. A box of poor quality chips waiting for a customer. Symptomatic of how far Cambridge Street Collective has gone downhill.

Train from Sheffield crowded. Not too crowded. Empty after Workshop.

Mow’s

No time to visit anywhere else, I stopped off at Mow’s for an espresso.

Excellent espresso, Dark Arts roastery.

I also picked up two bars of chocolate.
