Nottingham e-bikes and  e-scooters nightmare

November 7, 2025

Walk from Nottingham Railway Station along Carrington Street over the Nottingham Canal through Broadmarsh Garden into Lister Gate to  Old Market Square and Hockley, it is as though on a dodgem track.

Illegal e-scooters and e-bikes, rental e-scooters and e-bikes, delivery riders.

There was allegedly a Police blitz, but if there was , I saw no evidence of this Police action. And if there was, long overdue.

I usually exit the side entrance of the Railway Station, yesterday, the train over ten minutes late, I exited the front of the station through the ticket barriers.

Crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing, several dumped Lime rental  e-bikes as I approach the bridge, one dumped on the bridge.

Rental e-scooters and e-bikes, delivery riders, straight across Canal Street ignoring a red light, not a single rider dismounting and walking once they entered a pedestrianised area.

Lime rental e-bike dumped outside Halifax.

Walking through Hockley, several near misses.

Delivery riders masked up to hide their identity.

Challenge any of these riders, receive abuse and threats of violence.

There needs to be action by Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham City Council.

Terminate the rental e-scooters and e-bikes trials . In the meantime, impoundi dumped on the streets, £250 recovery fee, £50 daily storage fee.

Riding through pedestrianised areas, on the footpaths, ignoring road signs and traffic lights, on the spot fines. Repeat offenders, criminal prosecution, destroy what they are reading.

Delivery riders, immigration status, detain and deport if Illegal.

Illegal e-scooters and e-bikes, confiscate and destroy.

Change in legislation to stop import and sale of e-scooters. If it is illegal to ride on public roads, why are they on sale?

Nottingham Spring Equinox plus one

March 21, 2025

I had hoped a warm sunny day as was York yesterday. Unfortunately not.

Lime rental e-bikes dumped everywhere. Hazard being run down by e-bikes and e-scooters, delivery riders.

No lessons learnt from the unmitigated disaster of rental e-scooters.

Looked in The Bagel Project Carrington Street. Busy, gloomy.

Macha at Vibe. I did not dislike, but did not like. I will stick with coffee or macha cheesecake.

Excellent lunch at Ugly Bread Bakery. I did not realise, they change their offerings every week.

Espresso at Effy. All their coffee filter roast, even though brewed as espresso.

Macha on sale. Very expensive. Tiny bag, 20g twenty pounds upwards.

I was going to visit the Specialty Coffee Shop, but no time. I head back to Vibe.

I cut across Old Market Square. It beggars belief, a Lime rental e-bike dumped in the middle of the square.

Kick Lime off the streets, not only Nottingham, but everywhere. They are a bloody nuisance.

Ban e-bikes,  e-scooters and  deliver riders from the city centre. Anyone ignoring the ban, £100 on-the-spot fine.  And seize and destroy what they are riding.

Impound dumped e-bikes and e-scooters. £250 recovery fee, £50 daily storage fee.

To my pleasant surprise, I find the owner of The Specialty Coffee Shop in Vibe.

In Vibe, cappuccino and macha cheesecake. Chinese girl asks me what I think. She is happy when I tell her she has done an excellent job. She tells me she is not a barista.

When I tell her of my experience in Divine in York where the girl argued with me that a cappuccino was made with chocolate, she started laughing.

Several near misses with delivery riders on  my way to the station.
