El Tango de Roxanne

Sting/Police classic Roxanne as tango.

Spine chilling.

Scene from the excellent film Moulin Rouge.

Captures the real tango, as evolved in rough working class districts of Buenos Aires, rough, violent, macho, sensual.

Thanks to Georgia.

Truthfully - Ayanna

Truthfully by Ayanna has an absolutely amazing cover version of the Sting-Police classic Roxanne. It opens as tango.

Ayanna Witter-Johnson, to give Ayanna her full name, has an incredible voice, comparable with Aretha Franklin.

I am no great fan of jazz. I sometimes listen to Ken Clarke’s jazz programme on BBC Radio 4. It does not matter what he plays, to me it all sounds the same.

But Truthfully by Ayanna is different. It has character, it has soul.

A powerful soul jazz fusion.
