Malala awarded Nobel Peace Prize

Malala Nobel Peace Prize

We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced. — Malala Yousafzai

I am proud that I am the first Pakistani and I am honoured that I am the first young woman or the first young person to be receiving this award. I’m thankful to my father for not clipping my wings and letting me fly. — Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai, the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

For once, a worthy recipient.

Cristina Lamb, co-author with Malala Yousafzai of I Am Malala, is appearing at the Guildford Book Festival. The event is oversubscribed, a long waiting list (which will now grow longer), a totally inadequate venue, and yet the organisers are ignoring all requests to relocate to another venue. They lack even the courtesy to respond. They seem more interested in tweeting drooling, sycophantic tweets promoting boring celebrities.

Israeli Defence Force should receive the Nobel Peace Prize

July 30, 2014

‘Israeli Defence Force should receive the Nobel Peace Prize … for fighting with unmanageable restraint’, these were the words uttered by Ron Dermer, Israeli ambassador to the US, when addressing a Christians-for-Israel summit in Washington.

The same Ron Dermer, attacked the New York Times, not exactly known for its pro-Palestine stance, for failing ‘to mention that a million Israelis were in bomb shelters yesterday as 100 rockets were fired at our civilian population’.

Ron Dermer calls the New York Times, an ’embarrassment to journalism’.

At least the Israelis have somewhere to hide. Palestinians have nowhere to hide as they are bombed by the most highly militarised nation on earth.

This morning, Israel targeted a UN school, not the first UN school they have targeted. They have also targeted hospitals.

Later in the day, Israel targeted a market.

Yesterday, Israel targeted and destroyed the only electrical power station in Gaza. Maybe Israel thinks Hamas has electrical powered rockets.

Israel is destroying Gaza, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.

Gaza has no means of self defence, no anti-tank missiles, no surface-to-air missiles, and yet Israel calls for Gaza to be demilitarised, a call echoed by Zionist apologists.

In US, a Gallop Poll of Americans aged between 18 to 29, 51% said action by Israel was not justified, 23% said action was justified. One wonders what the figures would be if US lacked such a pro-Israel biased media.

In the UK, almost two thirds of the British public (62%) believe that the Israeli government is committing war crimes, according to a YouGov poll. One must assume the remaining third rely on BBC for their news.

The YouGov survey, conducted 27-28 July 2104, comes days after a separate poll carried out on behalf of The Sunday Times showed that 52% of the British public sees Israel’s bombing of the Gaza Strip as “unjustified”. Questioned about their attitude to the conflict more generally, 27% said their sympathies lie more with the Palestinians, while 14% said their sympathies lay more with the Israelis.

When I hear the Judeo-Fascists speak, it is like I am hearing something straight out of Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Israel was founded by terrorists, on land that was not theirs.

Appalling hypocrisy by the US. One the one hand condemn Israeli atrocities and call for a ceasefire on the other hand re-supply Israel with munitions in order that mass slaughter and destruction can continue. Americans should hang their heads in shame.

Nobel Peace Prize has become a farce

October 12, 2012

It was bad enough when Obama was granted the Peace Prize, but to hand it to the European Union, an undemocratic body that is rotten and corrupt to the core has to be seen as a sick joke.

The EU has done more to sow dissent and disharmony and hatred of foreigners in member states that anything up to outright invasion and occupation of a country.

Greece is suffering thanks to EU (in reality German) imposed austerity measures that are crippling the Greek economy and putting people out of work. Money flows into Greece, and back out to German banks (with no benefit to the Greek people).

When euro finance ministers meet, they spend their time discussing how to prop up the euro, not how can we help revive the economies of member their states.

It is not as though there are not worthy recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Canon Andrew White has worked tirelessly in Iraq to bring various warring factions together, to get them to talk to each other.

The Nobel Peace Prize is losing all legitimacy when it awards what was once a prestigious prize to the EU,and has reduced the awarding committee to a laughing stock.

Chinese Dissident Liu Xiaobo Awarded Nobel Peace Prize

October 9, 2010

For once the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to a worthy recipient.

The award last year to Barack Obama was a sick joke. For what, was the question most people asked. It made ridicule of the Nobel Peace Prize. Almost as bad as awarding the US Liberty Medal to Tony Blair.

China is a brutal regime. They carry out brutal repression of dissidents both within China and Chinese occupied Tibet. The West turns a blind eye whilst China continues to supply the West with cheap goods.

Last year I had the honour of meeting Ma Jian one of the student leaders who survived Tiananmen Square massacre. The memory of which has been wiped from the Chinese collective consciousness. I am only sorry to say I have still not read his book, Beijing Coma, a copy of which he kindly gave me.

Chinese Dissident Liu Xiaobo is another survivor from the Tiananmen Square massacre. He has continued to speak out which is why he is now in a Chinese prison.

The Nobel committee made clear in its announcement of the award that by giving it to Liu, currently serving an 11-year sentence on subversion charges, it intended to highlight human rights problems and political repression in China.
