Flea Market in Central Market

February 18, 2017

Third Saturday of the month, flea market in Central Market in centre of Lincoln.

I inquired of the fruit and vegetable market on Thursday, was there a flea market? No they said, a craft market.

I could not see it was in anyway  different to the flea market last month.

The only difference, The Little Bicycle Coffee Shop had been relocated from a prime location to the back of the market. I assumed he was not there. And no, micro cafe not a good name, describes what it is, it is not a name.

Cappuccino, but different beans.

No publicity for the flea market cum craft market when I inquired on Thursday, today yes, Thursday no.  How is it to draw people in, if no publicity?

I caught the bus, which dropped me off at the temporary bus station south side of the station. Much larger than I expected, and vastly superior to the old bus station as out in the open. How to get into the town? I thought over the railway bridge, but then where, as a huge building site. A couple from Gloucester said no, follow us, and they led me down narrow alley, which led into the High Street.  To return the favour, I said avoid the town centre, go to the top of the High Street, then walk up The Strait and Steep Hill.

El Rastro en el Mercado

Todos los Sábados.

Every Saturday

Ground floor and top floor of Municpal Market.

Mainly junk, but you can find everything: books, clothes, antiques, jewelry, knives, watches, honey, clothes …

Most is cheap rubbish, but can find Rolex and Omega watches (and fakes), old cameras.

First floor is food, mainly fruit and vegetables, including organic, but also fish and meat.

Like last Saturday, raining, but unlike last Saturday, not heavy torrential rain. The rain meant not as busy, but still very busy. The food stalls, as always very busy.

I decided to have  a massage. Lower back, where I was in bad pain, could feel nothing. My shoulders, OMG, the pain. It was as though knives being stuck in me. I asked afterwards. She said problem around my shoulders and that may be causing the problem lower down.

If I have a massage, I can tell where the problem. Muscles are hard. But I have never experienced pain of today.

I am feeling a little better.

Next Saturday, the Anglican Church has a market. Not as good as this market, and they have the gall to charge 1 euro entrance.

El Rastro en el Mercado

Todos los Miércoles.

Every Wednesday, a smaller version of the Saturday market.

Ground floor and top floor of Municpal Market.

Mainly junk, but you can find everything: books, clothes, antiques, jewelry, knives, watches, honey, clothes …

First floor is food, fruit and vegetables, fish, little restaurants, a tea and coffee shop.

There was actually more here today, than Saturday, as Saturday torrential rain, but food stores not busy.  I have never seen the tea and coffee shop busy, and cannot see it surviving. Their coffee is undrinkable.

Most things can be found on this market. A strange cross between a car boot sale, farmers market and craft fair.

Today I found muskets, a blunderbus and swords.
