Dinner with a view from rooftop restaurant with a view over Athens.

Excellent cold cucumber soup.

Followed by slow roast belly pork.

Rooftop restaurant at The Athens Gate is a rare example of somewhere worth eating in Athens, albeit pricey.

The Acropolis

The Acropolis

Having set off around midday to Temple of Zeus, wandered around, and returned through Plaka, I was very tired.

I could have caught the Metro, two stops.

I have in the past ate at The Athens Gate rooftop restaurant. Then there was a choice of a special, but not now.

Slow roast belly pork, which was excellent. Where was the vegetables? Four small cubes of potato, was all there was.

I asked, to be told there was vegetable, what I thought strange tasting potato, was celeriac.

Meal ruined by landmouthed American behind, and a very roudy party of drunks.
