Friday, pleasant afternoon relaxing in the shade in the terraced gardens at Crystal Springs overlooking the bay.
Special thanks to manager Nicos and his staff for their hospitality.
View from room.
Yesterday, overlooking the Bay at Crystal Springs.
A couple of days ago, walked from Crystal Springs to Sirena Bay and on to the marina at St Nicolas.
Yesterday, walked to and around the marina to the little church.
Horendous racket fromthe hotel overlooking the beach. Hotel from hell.
Overlooking the Bay at Crystal Springs.
Morning walk to Sirena Bay and onward to marina.
As far as the marina, but to have reached the church, I would have had to have walked around the marina.
Lizards scurrying across my path.
Hazy sun, hot and humid.
The beach at Crystal Springs has been re-engineered.
You cannot re-engineer beaches.
You may think you can, but you cannot.
Beaches are a complex interaction of coastal erosion, wind, tides and currents.
Re-engineering a beach in one location, has unforeseen consequences elsewhere on a coast.
The spoil from the re-engineered beach has been dumped at the side of the Pernera-Paralimni road, where it is an eyesore and environmental hazard, with dust blowing everywhere in the wind.
On the road leading out of Pernera to Paralimni, alongside the road and adjacent to Crystal Springs Beach Hotel, a huge pile of dirt and rocks.
When the wind blows, dust everywhere, it blows into the shop and grill opposite. Anyone walking along the road gets dust in their eyes in their mouth.
The ugly pile has been there for months.
Why no action to remove, why no action against whoever dumped at the side of the road?
The source of this eyesore is re-engineering the beach at Crystal Springs.
