Honest Burgers

June 17, 2019

Not seen before, Honest Burgers.

Trying too hard to be trendy, loud moronic music blasting out. Obviously not aware of the trend to quieter restaurants.

Two waitresses doing an excellent impression of robots, reciting from a brainwashed script.

Overpriced local craft beer served in a can. £5-50 for a small can. Served ice cold with a chilled glass. Similar to Punk IPA.

Overpriced expensive burger disgusting, served with dried up salty chips that had overpowering stench of rosemary. £9 for burger and chips.

If I wished for salt on my chips I am more than capable of adding myself. And no, I do not wished to be knocked out by the overwhelming stench of rosemary.

Advice to cut salt intake not got through to the chef.

Burger under-cooked, pink on the inside.

Served with a knife, no fork. Greasy fingers as a result, more paper napkins used to clean fingers, let’s generate unnecessary waste.

Very poor quality compared with Shoot the Bull Trinity Market in Hull Old Town or Organic Dirty Burgers North Laine in Brighton.

No surprise Honest Burgers empty.

Lamb burger with sweet potato chips at Lion and Lamb Cafe and Restaurant

July 15, 2017

Whenever I walk by Lion and Lamb Cafe and Restaurant in Lion and Lamb Yard in Farnham it is empty. There is a reason for this, the food is awful and expensive, though the menu is enticing.

I inquired of the menu. The reason I enquired is experience has taught me  what it says is not what is on offer.

I returned later, to be told to sit outside as two parties of loud drunk women inside.

They should have told me this earlier, but at least the girl did apologise.

Lamb burger with sweet potato chips ordered. Not long coming. It looked disgusting.  It was disgusting.

When I cut into the lamb burger, it was not cooked.

To put in context. A burger at The Queen Hotel, a Wetherspoon pub in Aldershot, is better, cheaper and you get a pint of real ale.

A couple of weeks ago, a 9 oz burger from a stall at the Street Food Picnic at Allen House Grounds in Guildford was vastly superior, and it came as an extra with a side of new potatoes. But then it was a quality burger, that from Lion and Lamb Cafe and Restaurant anything but.

The only thing good about the experience was the girl serving was pleasant and polite.

I learnt later from their website, that serve artisan coffee. I saw no evidence of this.

I have been here a couple of times before, it was bad then, and nothing has improved.

I checked to see what TripAdvisor had to say. Once again, glowing reviews that are not true.

As I said to the couple who walked away, good luck finding anywhere decent to eat in Farnham.

New Forest Steak Burger Co

November 1, 2014

Winchester is a terrible place for lunch. I have a burger off a stall, New Forest Steak Burger Co. It is excellent.

Burgers do not have to be McShit served by the Fat Clown.

I tell the man, Winchester terrible place for lunch. He tells me, I am the third person to tell him that.

But, he using polystyrene burger boxes. No excuse when there are card alternatives. Also shrink-wrapped tomatoes from a supermarket. Why, when there is an excellent fruit and veg stall. Similar with his bread, when there is an excellent bread stall?

I find Jimmy Bean. Excellent coffee.

Winchester has some excellent food stalls.

  • Jimmy Bean for coffee
  • New forest Steak Burger Co
  • Bread stall
  • Cheese stall

Ask any of them about their produce and they will be able to tell you.

Jimmy Bean will be able to tell you about coffee. The bread stall what flour, how baked, where it is from. The cheese stall, where the cheeses are from how they have been produced, a sliver to taste.

New Forest Steak Burger Co is no exception.

A must for Guildford farmers market, first Tuesday of the month in Guildford High Street.
