I made as they were packing up. One stall not yet packed up.
An orange, mandarins (or similar), cucumber, tomatoes. €1-50.

Outside Athens Central Market a row of shops with dried fruit and nuts, halva, spices, chocolate.
I bought nuts, chocolate, dates. The quality of the nuts and fried fruit for higher than would find in the UK.
Large urns which I assumed contained olive oil. No, peanut butter. The man lifted the lid. Wonderful aroma. I was tempted, but no jar. A jar was found for me. The smallest jar 500g, the next size 1kg.
Not permitted to sell olive oil in bulk. Has to be in a bottle or can. This makes sense. I would not buy from a bulk container. Oxidised, rancid
Diporto restaurant, a simple peasant restaurant hidden in a cellar beneath a derelict mansion behind the fruit and vegetable market of Athens Central Market.
Today bean soup.
Supermarket shelves empty in the UK (or is it media hype). In Athens no shortages.
It cannot be the weather, though in the long term climate will impact food security.
For far too long supermarkets have screwed growers, we are now paying the price.
Excellent cappuccino at Mokka.
Too late for cappuccino in ceramic, had to make do with a takeaway cup.
Shortages? What shortages?
Are the shortages in UK supermarkets media hype or paying the price of supermarkets screwing growers for years?
No shortages fruit and vegetable market Athens Central Market.
Diporto is for the adventurous, a cellar beneath a derelict mansion behind the fruit and vegetable market at Athens Central Market.
Excellent bean soup with a hunk of bread.
A mistake to eat here, the food was disgusting.
I had not expected to find the restaurant hidden beneath a derelict building open, is tvess Sunday
The fish market was open (and very busy) but not where I was looking foreard to chick pea or bean soup.
I should have found somewhere better, maybe Just Made 33.
I do not know if fish market usually open on a Sunday.
Today packed, people buying fish for public holiday on Monday
Fruit and vegetable market was also open.
Sadly not open the restaurant hidden in a cellar beneath a derelict mansion. I was hoping for chick pea or bean soup.
I made do with Αλεξανδρινό Κεμπάπ – Μοναστηράκι. A mistake, a big mistake. The food was disgusting. I should have carried on walking until I found somewhere better.
I could have found something to eat at Just Made 33.
