Amoeba & Stone

Official album launch today, followed by a tour, Amoeba & Stone is very much as I feared from an interview Abi Moore gave last year, overproduced.

It is unfortunate that Abi Moore has allowed herself to be beguiled by a producer who had done her no favours.

Bad production has become the norm, the new baseline, against which everything is judged.

I contrast the bad production of Amoeba & Stone with the excellent She and I.

Abi Moore: Making Amoeba and Stone

Different people, different techniques. Imogen Heap does most of it herself, Sparks, then brings in help; Steve Lawson does everything himself, FingerPainting.

An obvious interview missing, maybe something to think about and add, is how Abi releases her music and the use she makes of social media. Unlike too many, Abi Moore demonstrates good use of social media and the net, she uploads her albums to bandcamp and sells direct.

Abi Moore is releasing her new album Amoeba & Stone on 3 February 2014. The ideal venue for release would be Stokes at The Collection, small, intimate, informal, mingle with fans, sign albums.

Amoeba and Stone

Singer-songwriter Abi Moore, with title track from her album Amoeba and Stone to be released early February 2014.

I am strongly reminded of Fairport Convention and Sandy Denny.

Serendipity and discovery: I came across Abi Moore (not literally) in Stokes on High Bridge whilst having a cappuccino. I learnt I had missed a concert she gave at Stokes at the Collection.
