Summer Solstice

Today the longest day.

From now on we head downhill to shorter days, longer nights, heading to the cold long nights of winter.

But now is summer.

Five days in a row, temperature has exceeded 30C.

Today the hottest day of the year, 34.5C.

Hottest day since 1976, when we had a heatwave last all summer, when everywhere was on fire, until it broke with a  violent thunderstorm.  35.6 in 1976 – the all-time high since records began.
