There are less than 48 hours to sign up as a Labour Party supporter.
It is offensive that have to pay £25 to register as a supporter, especially if you already registered as a supporter last year and coughed up £3.
The registration process is a crude trawl for information.
Asked for the reason for registration. If put Vote for Jeremy Corbyn, does that lead to automatic exclusion? On the other hand, if left blank, does that look suspicious and still excluded?
It is offensive that only 48 hours within which to register. And if like last year will be made difficult to register.
But, this is part and parcel of the gerrymandering by Labour NEC to rig the Labour leadership election, disenfranchising 130,000 members, banning local parties from meeting, suspending the local party in Brighton.
And just when you think the abuse and gerrymandering by the dictatorship that is known as Labour Party National Executive cannot get any worse, it has.
For people on benefits, living a hand to mouth existence dependent upon food banks (the one big Tory success story) finding £25 to pay the registration fee, especially at very short notice, is impossible.
Labour party member Lauren Ashby had set up a crowd funding scheme through Just Giving to help such people pay the £25 registration fee.
provide financial support to those who have been disenfranchised by the party itself; people who are already members, have now been told they have to pay a further £25 if they wish to vote in the leadership election, and do not have the financial resources to do so.
She has been ordered by Labour NEC to close down the scheme and refund the donors.
They have demanded that I shut down the page, and return all monies to the original donors by 12 noon on Monday, 18 July. If I fail to comply, they advise that the case will be passed to the NEC and I face possible expulsion from the Labour Party.
Fearing expulsion from the party, she has with reluctance closed down the scheme and asked Just Giving to return all monies raiseed to the donors.
The smear campaign against Jeremy Corbyn and his supporters have claimed intimidation.
The action by Labour NEC against Lauren Ashby is nothing less than crude intimidation.
Labour Establishment and the coup plotters hate Jeremy Corbyn with a vengeance, that is their only common policy, hatred of Corbyn but what they fear is the membership, that it is becoming a broad social movement, the largest social movement in Europe, demanding participation at all levels, that their sinecures for life are at risk, that the Westminster gravy train is about to be derailed, and that Jeremy Corbyn is giving voice to the voiceless.
John McDonnell eloquently summed it up:
This coup isn’t about Jeremy Corbyn. This coup isn’t about him, this is about you…
This is the 1% telling the 99% to ‘get back in your place.’
The Labour elite may hate Jeremy Corbyn, but what they fear is the political uprising he is facilitating. There is a huge movement coalescing under the Labour leader that threatens to break up media and banking monopolies, deconstruct neoliberal capitalism and bring the Westminster gravy train screeching to a halt.
Excellent news, Jeremy Corbyn has a massive lead over coup plotters.
