A sharing economy as discussed in Sacred Economics does not contribute to GDP, as money does not change hands, thus it is not measured, invisible, unseen.
On the rare occasion discussed in the mainstream media it is not understood. Uber is not an example of the sharing economy, Uber is an example of exploitation by an app.
It was therefore with great pleasure and surprise to turn on the radio and find myself part way through a discussion of the sharing economy.
What was being discussed was the Library of Things in Frome and a similar share shop in London.
We buy things that we rarely use. Is it not better we share with others, and share shops is one way of achieving this.
