Thursday and Friday very warm, Friday humid.

Today it started off cool, but it is June, the sun only had to pop out in the afternoon for the temperature to climb.

Dysfunctional Stagecoach is a joke. Beginning of May, the fares went up. Unable to use the excuse of rising fuel prices, it is claimed the service is improving. They must have got that one from the railways (Stagecoach being a major player). Er no, the service has not improved, it has got worse.

The times of 17, 18 and 19 buses have changed. Only impossible to get a new timetable. I assumed that the times from Aldershot remained unchanged, an assumption because the times at the bus stops have not changed. Today I asked the bus driver, one of the rare courteous and helpful drivers, and he produced a timetable. I then learnt the times had changed. Instead of every 20 minutes xx10, xx30 and xx50, now five minutes earlier, thus xx05, xx25 and xx45.

On alighting from the bus, I informed the bus driver the times at the bus stop were not correct, and asked could he inform the office at the bus station. He said he was aware, and it was not the only bus stop, he rattled off a long list of where the times at the bus stops were no longer correct.

It will be interesting to see if Stagecoach has changed the times from Alton Station to Winchester. Last time I caught the bus, it was timed to leave at the same time as the London train arrives, so invariably miss the bus and have to wait half an hour for the next bus.

A pleasant walk along the River Wey, through Gostrey Meadow, and up through Downing Street into the town centre.

After popping in the butcher, cut through the graveyard, pop in the Parish Church (once again no candles), then a pleasant walk around Manor Field and a little way into Bishop’s Meadow.

I noticed Waterstone’s had what looked like an interesting book, Cryptocurrency, but quite a hefty read.

No cherries in Waitrose. I tried one off a market stall in Guildford yesterday. A mistake not buying any. Not all the tills manned. The coffee was disgusting. I poured it away and got tea. I suspect the problem is they are making it too hot, which burns the coffee and and makes it very bitter. I warned others the coffee was not good.

At the little coffee shelf, I do not know why (maybe it is because it is Farnham), but always have an interesting discussion on environment, democracy social issues. Today, no exception.

Today with a mother and daughter, the daughter a student of politics and history at Southampton University.

I was recommending where good coffee,  Harris + Hoole and Glutton and Glee in Guildford, Jimmy Bean in Winchester. Then it moved onto elections in Greece and Spain, Frome in Somerset, participatory democracy, Thomas Paine and The Rights of Man, open coops and open commons. I could have suggested Revolution and This Changes Everything.

New timetable. Bus leaves Farnham five minutes later, at least the one I caught. It sat at the bus stop and left late. Dawdled on the way. Even if on time, it would be like last week, arrive at Aldershot bus station to see the bus I want leaving. I alighted in the town, walked through, and only because the bus I wanted was running a few minutes late, did I catch it. No 17 bus, last one from Farnham a little after five o’clock. Thus late afternoon, now only two buses an hour.
