Dean Dyson

On my way to lunch at Guildford Institute, I found Dean Dyson playing at the bottom end of Guildford High Street.

I have come across him at least once before.

This guy is amazing, fantastic rendition of Scarborough Fair.

Scarborough Fair a traditional folk song,  is probably best known though Simon and Garfunkel.

Scarborough Fair illustrates why copyright and intellectual property is bad for creativity. No one owns Scarborough Fair therefore each performer can have their own interpretation, each adding value.

Sita Sings the Blues illustrates what copyright can do, when songs are locked away.

We had a long chat. I bought two signed copies of Street Songs. I said it was a must he be on bandcamp.

I found him last Saturday on a fairly rare visit to Guildford. I was so impressed I bought one of his CDs after a lovely chat with this very friendly man and, on coming home, have downloaded more. Reminds me so much of my beloved late husband who, sadly, never knew Dean’s music.

He can also be found in Winchester.

    He gets around.
