Train to Guildford, then train to Godalming.

Walking into Godalming, on a bank wild flowers I had not seen before (though they could be garden escapees).

In Godalming Parish Church, candle lit, prayer card writ for Annie. Very old piano, a Schiedmayer. Old Bible on display as last week, but at a different page.

Excellent lunch at Café Mila. I do not think I have had such excellent tomato soup.

After lunch the sun came out and pleasantly warm in the sun.

Can WHSmith get worse? Unfortunately yes. If they have Manuscript Found in Accra, I could not find, and could not be bothered to ask.

Not much better joy in Waterstone’s. Last week Manuscript Found in Accra on display with new books. Not any longer. I found a single copy, hidden on a shelf, at the book of the store in a mystical or religious section, where the Post Office is. I only came across at all because I had a couple of items to post to Athens. They did have special 25th anniversary edition of The Alchemist, but again not on display, not even on the shelf.

Last week I caught a bus at 3-30, this week I decided to catch a bus at 4-00, half an hour in Haslemere, then catch the bus to Aldershot. Haslemere is not worth more than half an hour as little there.

I was not on the bus I thought I was on (it must have been running late), instead of through all the villages, I went on a cross-country route.

Haslemere Books must be the most depressing indie bookshop in the country. No, they did not have Manuscript Found Accra, I was the only one who has asked. An international best seller, not only do they not have, let alone on display, not a clue what I was asking for. A very depressing and uninspiring window display, they cannot even be bothered to take the books out of their cellophane wrapping.

I cannot understand how Haslemere Books remains in business. Last year they did not have a clue NeverSeconds, the year before Aleph.

WHSmith Haslemere. If they had Manuscript Found in Accra, I did not see, and as with Godalming, I could not be bothered to ask.

Bus to Haslemere I sat on the right hand side of the bus and had the sun in my eyes. Haslemere to Farnham I sat on the left hand side of the bus and had the sun in my eyes.

Lovely wooded hills.

I am used to these buses running late. I am not used to bus keep waiting at bus stops as ahead of schedule.

Second bus from Aldershot.

Alighting from bus, now cold, cold wind blowing, pleased I did bring warm coat and scarf as now needed.

Godalming is a small, relatively unspoilt market town south of Guildford on the banks of the River Wey.
