Feverdreams

Feverdreams by Daniel Berkman

Feverdreams by Daniel Berkman, a haunting beautiful album. The one exception is the title track Feverdreams, a very dark, nihilist track.

In parts, I reminded of Vangelis, especially his album The City. At other times, an album I heard long long ago, and maybe have on tape, a sax being played in Grace Cathedral.

What I did not like was the abrupt track endings, as though falling off the edge of a cliff.

A kora is a multi-stringed traditional West African instrument, somewhere between a harp and a lute.

Last year, Daniel Berkman toured with Steve Lawson. They intend to release over the next few months, 10-12 hours of music from ten gigs. To date they have released Accidentally (On Purpose).

Synchronicity: I post a picture of a kora, to illustrate what the instrument looks like, Daniel Berkman tweets to say it was the the man who made his kora that is used on the recording!
