Raking up leaves and spiking the grass

The last two mornings, raking up leaves and spiking the grass. The day started off cold, that was to be expected. Once the sun came out, it was pleasantly warm. But once it went, it turned cold.

The grass very waterlogged. I would have liked to have dug a vegetable bed, French beans and early peas should already be in, but ground too waterlogged. Delay probably no great disadvantage as when the ground is cold and wet seeds rot, rather than germinate.

It is easy to see why the country is flooded. The ground is saturated. When it rains, water cannot soak into the ground and flows along the surface.
